A JOURNEY THROUGH THE NATURE AND CULTURE OF TREE NATIONAL PARKS

    
           
  DAY 1
Arrival in Abruzzo. Meeting with the guide. Welcoming drink. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.

Arrivai of group in the National Park of Abruzzo. Meeting with our guide. Welcoming drink. Dinner and overnight stay.
 		    
  DAY 2
Breakfast in hotel. Excursion to Vasto to visit the old town center: Caldoresco Castle, Bassano Tower, Piazza Rossetti, Archeological site with mosaics of II century B.C., St. Joseph Cathedral, St. Mary Maggiore Church, home to the Sacred Thorn. Avalos Palace and the archeologėcal museum. Transfer to Casalbordino for visit to wine cellars for wine tastėng. Then on to Fassacesia to an olive-oil mili tasting the oli, locai foods and home made bread. In the afternoon, transfer to San Giovanni in Venere to the Benedectėne abbey, considered one of the most beautiful in Abruzzo. Brief stop at the Adriatic Sea to visit an ancient wooden pier "trabucco" used for fishing. Return to hotel for fish dinner and overnight say.
 		   DAY 2
Breakfast in hotel. Visit National Park of Abruzzo. Walking tour (3 miles - 4/5 km) to the Camoscėara deer natura reserve, a spectacular "naturai amphitheatre" and follow a short footpath to the Ninfee Waterfalls. Next, visit Cividella Alfedena, the town centre and visit Wolf Museum and the Lynx and Wolf nature reserve. Lunch in hotel. In the afternoon visit Pescasseroli, centre of the Park. Visit the Park Museum. Then tasting of liquer made from fruits of the wood and herbs. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
 		    
  DAY 3
Breakfast in hotel. Excursion to Pescara, visit of old city to the house where 19th Italian poet Gabriele D'Annunzio was born, and to Bourbonic prison which houses a folk museum. Stroll through most important streets of modern centre for shopping. Next visit: Ortona, a costai town. Stop for wine tasting and locai foods. In the afternoon, transfer to Orecchio to visit the Duke's Palace and Byzantine Museum. Transfer to famous wine cellars, producers of "Montepulciano and Trebbiano" wine. Return to hotel. Dinner in locai restaurant for typical Abruzzo cookėng. Overnight stay.
 		   DAY 3
Breakfast in hotel. Depart for Scanno. Stroll through narrow streets of old town centre, famous for its production of gold jewellery. Tasting of typical cakes "pan dell'orso or mostacciolo" . Free time for shopping. Free lunchhour. In the afternoon proceed to Sulmona in the Peligna Valley, home of the poet of love "Ovidio" . Tour of the old town centre and visit to the most important monuments. Visit artisan workshop where confetti sweets are made, and the Confetti Museum. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
 		    
  DAY 4
Breakfast in hotel. Change hotel. Depart in the coach to the nearby railway station. Ali aboard the "Valley train" to Villa S. Mary for a spectacular ride through the mountains, passing by numerous small villages. Tasting of locai sweet "bocconotto" while on the train. Journey continues by coach to visit a factory where truffles are worked and turned into delicious locai specialities. Sampling of truffle products. In the afternoon proceed to Pescocostanzo to visit Renaissance and Baroque monuments, in partėcular the Basilica of Saint Mary of the hills. Arrivai in hotel the Abruzzi National Park. Dinner and overnight stay.
 		  

   
  DAY 5
Breakfast in hotel. Visit National Park. Transfer to Villetta Barrea, a picturesque town in the heart of the National Park. Walkėng tour (3 miles) to the Camosciare deer nature reserve, a spectacular naturai amphitheatre, and follow a short footpath to the Ninfee Waterfalls. Next, visit the town of Civitella Alfedena, the town centre and visit Wolf Museum and the lynch and wolf nature reserve. Meeting with shepherds who deraonstrate how the locai "pecorino" cheese is made. Cheese tasting. In the afternoon visit to Pescasseroli, centre of the Park. Visit to the Park Museum. Then, tasting of liquer made from fruits of the wood and herbs. Return to hotel for a dinner of locai dishes accompanied by live music. Overnight stay.
 		   DAY 4
Breakfast in hotel. Visit National Park of Gran Sasso, spectacular hėgh mountainous area. Arrivai in Campo Imperatore (2117 mt) , optional visit to Mussolinis hotel room. Walkėng tour to the refuge "Duca degli Abruzzi". Next visit to the village of Rocca Calaselo. Excursion to the Fortress and visit the Castle and Curch of St. Maria della Pietā. Free lunghhour. Visit to S. Stefano di Sessanio, considered today as one of the 100 most beautiful little town of Italy. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
 		    
  DAY 6
Breakfast in hotel. Change hotel. Depart for Scanno. Stroll through narrow streets of old town centre, famous for ėts production of gold jewellery. Tasting of typical cakes. Free tinte for shopping. Tasting of locai foods. In the afternoon proceed to Sulmona in the Pelėgna Valley, home of the poet of love "Ovidėo". Visit artisan workshop where confetti sweets are made, and the Confetti Museum. Tour of the old town centre and visit monuments among which SS. Annunziata Palace, St. Francis Church and the medieval acquaduct. Arrivai in hotel in Aquila. Dinner and overnight stay.
 		   DAY 5
Breakfast in hotel. Walking tour in Val Fondillo in the heart of National Park of Abruzzo. Lunch in the hotel. In the afternoon visit to Pescocostanzo and to its historical centre of Renaissance and baroque monuments. The town is known for the production of lace. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
 		    
  DAY 7
Breakfast in hotel. Guėded tour of Aquila, regėonal capitai of Abruzzo. Visit medieval centre and its most important buildėngs including Saint Bernardino's Basilica and Saint Mary of Collemaggio. Visit 6th Century castle and the Abruzzo Natiojnal Museum. In the afternoon excursion to Saint Stefano di Sessanio, considered to be one the hundred most beautiful villages in italy. Proceed to Calaselo, visit Saint Nicola parish church, the castle and Saint Mary Church. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay
 		   DAY 6
Breakfast in hotel. Excursion in the National Park of the Majella. Visit of Farā S. Martino known for the manufacturėng of italian pasta. Walking tour in the Valley of S. Spirito and to the spectacular "Gole of S. Martino" a real "Canyon" in the Majella, to Green River and to the Museum of Wild Fauna. Free lunchhour. In the afternoon visit to Guardiagrele principal artistic and cultural centre of the National Park of the Majella. Visit to the historical centre artisan shops wrought iron and copper. Tasting of the typical dessert "tre monti". Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay
